    Spreading the joy of filmmaking to all

    At Sydney Film School, we believe everyone who loves the silver screen should experience life from behind the camera. For this reason, we ensure our filmmaking courses are accessible to everyone who wants to be a part of them, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing. For our efforts to embrace and empower the hard of hearing, we were recognised in an article by Connect Hearing.

    Josh Sambono's latest project

    Starring recent diploma graduate Holly Fraser, Amy Danzig is inspired by the classic action/sci-fi and Ozploitation films of the 1980's. It's the story of a government experiment gone wrong, completely changing the course of history; turning civilised society into savage gender-biased street gangs and making up for past wrongs.

    Exciting New Alliance

    In what is an exciting development for creative screen arts education, International Screen Academy (ISA) and Sydney Film School (SFS) have come together to form a new alliance. The partnership will see Sydney Film School relocate to International Screen Academy’s Studios in Young Street, Waterloo to create a new hub of acting and filmmaking excellence. The agreement will allow actors and filmmakers to work alongside one another to produce the high quality of screen productions that both schools are known for.

    Distribution Grants awarded

    Congratulations to the winners of the Distribution Grants for the films of the 24th SFS Film Festival. A new method of selection was put in place for this Festival, which saw the producers of each Award winning film invited to submit a distribution strategy for their films.

    A Matter of Principle Documentary Fundraiser

    Holroyd High School principal, Dorothy Hoddinott is an extraordinary individual. She has turned a western Sydney suburban school into a unique phenomenon. The school is achieving high university entrance beyond the National average. One in every six students is a refugee who has lived in Australia for less than seven years; many were illiterate and with no knowledge of the English language when they arrived in the country. A Matter of Principle directed by Dr. Alejandra Canales and produced by Isabel Perez tells this story.

    The Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) is a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee, that was formed in 1958 for the purpose of providing a forum for cinematographers to further develop their skills through mutual co-operation. They recently announced their award winners for 2016 and one of our alumni was featured.
