Lynden Barber

Lynden Barber is a freelance film & music journalist; a curator for the National Film and Sound Archive website, Australian Screen Online. He blogs at Eyes Wired Open

In addition to writing for The Australian and SBS TV's film website, he also contributes to Limelight magazine and the journal of the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, LUMINA, and writes a monthly blog on German cinema for the Goethe-Institut's Australian website.

Previously he was the staff film writer at The Australian for a decade, & for five years before that the on-staff film critic at The Sydney Morning Herald.

Born in the UK, Lynden moved to Australia in 1985, having trained as a local newspaper reporter before becoming a full-time feature writer and reviewer for the rock weekly Melody Maker. His writing has also appeared in NME, Meanjin, and Rolling Stone (Australia), among other publications.
