The 15th SFS Festival was held in December 2011 at the Chauvel Cinema in Sydney's central suburb of Paddington.
Over 2 festival days, the festival screened over 80 short films (dramas and documentaries) produced that semester by our students and graduates. Films were distributed throughout 10 screening sessions and judged by the teaching staff and industry professionals with awards presented at the festival’s Awards Night, on Thursday 15th of December.
The Key Note Speaker for our 15th SFS Festival Awards Night was an award-winning Australian film director Paul Cox.

The first night of the festival, Wednesday 14th, was reserved for the Graduation Ceremony and screening of the major projects produced by our graduates in the last semester of their 1-year studies.
Consistent with the vision to bridge international film cultures, each Sydney Film School Festival showcases a short film produced by emerging filmmaker from another country. This December we were celebrating the beauty of the Korean Cinema.
As a special feature of the graduation night, continuing its collaboration with international film schools, the SFS Festival screened a short film Younggil's Angels produced at the Korean Academy of Film Arts. This session was supported by the Korean Cultural Office and introduced by Mr Kieran Tully, Marketing Manager at the Korean Cultural Office and Marketing Director of the Korean Film Festival.

In addition to the regular program, SFS festivals provide educational opportunities through panel discussions with graduates and industry professionals.
In conjunction with the SFS Industry Advisory Board (SFS IAB) the 15th SFS Festival hosted a screening of the short film 'Lotus Sonny', first film founded by the SFS IAB and produced by SFS graduates. This screening was followed by Q&A with crew and cast. The session was supported by Popcorn Taxi and was moderated by Popcorn Taxi's creative director Chris Murray.
